Exports of fresh and frozen beef from Brazil, through May, between 2015 and 2025

Farmnews compared Brazilian export data for fresh and frozen beef in the period up to May, between 2015 and 2025.
One of our international readers requested this analysis, and we thought it would be interesting to share it. It is worth highlighting (first table) the consolidated data on Brazilian exports of fresh and frozen beef, which reached record levels in 2025.
First Table shows data on Brazilian fresh and frozen beef exports through May, between 2015 and 2025, according to COMEX data.

Brazil’s fresh beef exports reached a new high in 2025, through May, totaling 1.046 million metric tons, 10.5% above the previous record set in 2024. Revenue was also a record high (table above), and the average price of beef continues to recover.
In fact, a new sales record for the month of June is expected to be achieved in 2025, as the daily average shipment for the month to date (14 business days) was above the daily average shipment observed in June 2024 (20 business days).
How have sales of fresh and frozen beef from Brazil to the international market evolved over the last few years?
Well, first it is important to note that exports of fresh beef account for around 10.0% to 12.0% of Brazil’s total exports.
The main importers of fresh beef from Brazil are Chile, Mexico, Algeria, and EU countries. The fact is that although it is a relatively small market, it has been growing gradually (second table). And, of course, it is a higher value-added market, with an average sale price almost 20.0% above the average value observed for frozen meat.
Second Table shows data on Brazilian fresh beef exports through May, between 2015 and 2025, according to COMEX data.

It is interesting to note that the sale of fresh beef from Brazil to the international market in the first half of 2025, up to May, not only set a record but also grew more than the sale of frozen beef on the same basis of comparison (third Table).
This is because, in the period from January to May 2025, Brazil’s fresh beef exports grew 14.2% compared to the same period in 2024, while the growth in frozen beef sales was lower, at 9.9%.
Third Table shows data on frozen beef exports from Brazil in the period up to May, between 2015 and 2025, according to COMEX data.

China, our main importing country buys almost exclusively frozen beef from Brazil, and the increased diversification of countries, as we have discussed in 2025, helps to reduce risk and increase the added value of sales, since new buyer countries such as Mexico and Algeria, among others, have a greater demand for fresh meat.
